Khloe Kardashian gave her husband, Lamar Odom, an ultimatum. According to TMZ, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star told her husband to either get his act together and get help or the marriage was over.
Almost a week since the demand, new reports are surfacing that Odom has checked into rehab. A source told People magazine that the NBA player finally "realized he needs help" and has decided to seek treatment.
According to TMZ, Odom has been battling a crack-cocaine drug addiction for at least three years. A source revealed to the website that this isn't Odom's first rehab stint. The athlete allegedly secretly checked into a San Diego rehab last summer after Kardashian forced him to get help for his drug addiction.
He refused at first but eventually gave in. TMZ's source said Odom stayed for three weeks and managed to stay clean the entire season with the Clippers but started using again once the basketball season was over.
His alleged drug use has been causing a lot of problems in his already troubled marriage. Last week he was involved in a three-car collision and a couple days later he was arrested for DUI. Despite all the negative attention the couple has been getting over the past couple weeks Kardashian is standing by her husband.
She has been constantly urging Odom to get help and finally decided she had enough when she gave him the ultimatum last weekend. TMZ reports that since Kardashian gave him the ultimatum she hasn't spoken to her husband and had no idea he had checked himself into rehab.
Odom has admitted to drug use in the past, People reports. He violated NBA drug policies twice in 2001 and was suspended for five games.
"It was a mistake. It's something that can't happen again. Hopefully, now I can put it behind me and start to better myself," he said in a press conference at the time. "This will definitely never happen again. I hope everyone doesn't pass judgment on my mistake. I've made a couple and I may make a couple again, but hopefully they won't be as big as this one."
Odom has dealt with a tremendous amount of loss and tragedy in his lifetime. His father battled heroin addiction for years. The athlete has said that he often felt like he was "fighting my father's demons," People reports.
He's had to deal with the death of his son, Jayden, back in 2006. Odom has two children, ages 13 and 10, with his ex-girlfriend Liza Morales and lost a third child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. He also lost a close cousin who died from gunshot wounds in 2011 and two days later, while riding in a chauffeured SUV, he was involved in a car accident that left a 15-year-old boy dead.
Kardashian has been quiet all the allegations but tweeted "As much as I wish I were made of steel... I'm not." She also posted a photo on Instagram telling people to never judge another person's situation.
