Apple is constantly looking for a way to break into the Chinese smartphone market where it's iPhones have traditionally had a difficult time getting the same traction as Android phones or even phones made within the country. Now Apple Inc. is taking steps to help it achieve this goal with the release of the iPhone 5S.
On Sept. 10, Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone 5S and iPhone C at a press event in Cupertino California, where it is headquartered. Meanwhile, the company will also hold an event in the Chinese capital of Beijing. The announcement was sent to Chinese journalists over the past few days. According to the Wall Street Journal this has fed into rumors that the company will be announcing something big for the Chinese market. Most speculation is going in the direction of a potential cooperation deal between Apple and China's largest mobile carrier, Chine Mobile Ltd.
It's important to note that Apple will also be having remote satellite events in Berlin and Tokyo. However, this is something the company has done in the past. The inclusion of China on this list is what is fueling rumors about the company's potential new partnership, according to All Things Digital.
The rumors regarding Apple's cooperation with China Mobile have been long lasting, going as far back as China Mobile first started to offer third-generation services. In the past, these services have been held up by China Mobile's uncommonly used mobile standard, which would have required a special chipset making it too costly to customize an assembly for an Apple iPhone.
Another possible theory regarding why Apple decided to hold a satellite event in China could simply be that the company will be offering the new iPhone in China for the first time. Previously the Chinese have had to wait months before new iPhones became available in their country.
The press event is scheduled for Sept. 10 where Apple will finally take the wrapping off of both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone C. Only time will tell what this means for the Chinese market.
