Megan Rapinoe probably didn't think her year could get much better, until now. After being a part of the women's U.S. soccer team that won the World Cup just last month, Rapinoe has happily done nothing but celebrate since. Now, she has something possibly even more exciting to celebrate- she's engaged!
The 30-year-old soccer star announced Thursday night that she and singer/songwriter Sera Cahoone are officially engaged with an adorable Instagram post. "This little lady's getting married," she captioned the photo of her and Cahoone kissing. Cahoone posted the same photo with the caption, "This little lady's getting married too!" The two have been together for nearly two years, according to New York Daily News.
The U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide back in June, and at the time, the women's soccer team was paving their way to the semifinals. The team has several women who are openly gay, Rapinoe being one of them, and at the time she just couldn't contain her excitement both on and off the field.
"Boom! America," she tweeted following the news. "Very proud to be Murican today. And the @ussoccer_wnt gonna do the work today."
"Just amazing," Rapinoe said of the ruling, according to NBC Sports. "That's an amazing feeling, obviously. Something that you can't really put into words. It's something that's maybe a little overwhelming for them to just strike it totally across the board. I'm so proud to be American today, for that reason and many others."
