‘Batman V Superman’ RUMORS: Ben Affleck’s Batman To Become Center Of DC’s Cinematic Universe?

The Caped Crusader is at it again. Warner Bros. insiders are claiming that the future of the DC Cinematic Universe will revolve around Ben Affleck's Batman, ComicBook.com reported. The change in strategy comes amid rumors of dysfunction behind the scenes at Warner Bros. in regards to their other standalone DC film properties. Additionally, an early cut of Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" was reportedly met with a standing ovation after a private screening for Warner Bros. executives.

A significant amount of the praise went towards Affleck's performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne. WB's head honchos are reportedly so impressed that they are trying to sign Affleck to a three picture deal for solo Batman flicks (Affleck will co-write, star and direct in 2018's "The Batman"). The character and this new trilogy would then become the center of DC's growing cinematic universe, as one Warner exec called Affleck the "definitive Batman."

Remember, these reports are unconfirmed at this time, so this is all nothing more than a rumor. But Batman has proven repeatedly both at the box office and with critics to be a successful movie franchise. If WB is worried about their other characters, it would make sense to double down with the Dark Knight.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 26, 2016.
