NBA 2K14 Features: The Focus on The Point Guard; Which Additions Help You at The 1

The point guard position in basketball is extremely important—almost as important as the quarterback in football. Guards such as Isaiah Thomas, Magic Johnson and most recently Tony Parker have been vital pieces in taking their teams deep into the playoffs and putting a championship trophy in their building.

So it’s great to see the enhancements in “NBA 2K14” that will specifically help point guards excel.

Leading the way in those features are the Dribbling Advancements and the Enhanced Passing. Here are their descriptions according to the NBA 2K Facebook page:

Dribbling Advancements - Upgraded dribble movement and new branching technology give you much greater 1-to-1 control over the ball handler.

Enhanced Passing – More accurate pass targeting, new give and go mechanics, better handoffs, and an entire arsenal of new flashy passes.

The ability to provide much better passes and have more control over the ball as you drive past a defender and kick to an open teammate will put greater value on the point guard position in “NBA 2K14.”

The other feature that will greatly accentuate the point guard is the “Pick and Roll Maestro” Signature Skill:

PICK AND ROLL MAESTRO

A ball-handler who excels at orchestrating the pick & roll. As the point man in a pick & roll, immediately following a screen this player receives a three point boost to his shooting attribute and is more accurate than most when passing to the screener.

This will make point guards such as Chris Paul, Deron Williams, and Steve Nash (and possibly even dudes such as Raymond Felton and Jeremy Lin) be highly effective in the game. Just as they dominate using the pick and roll in real-life, they will be able to do so in NBA 2K.
