There are many things wrong with “Madden NFL 25,” and there have been may things written about those wrongs (including this piece). Nevertheless, it is still enjoyable to pop the game into your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and take control of your favorite players. I recently did an article outlining the top 3 will be most enjoyable to use in “NBA 2K14.” So, here is my list for “Madden NFL 25”:
No. 1—Calvin Johnson
One of my greatest football memories is watching Calvin Johnson run a route into the endzone, stop with two defenders literally standing right beside him, look at Matthew Stafford, and point to the sky. It was if he was saying, “Don’t worry Matt, act as if they’re not here.” Oh, and he caught the pass for a touchdown. This is the sort of domination Calvin Johnson can bring to the video game. With his ridiculous leaping ability and speed (and his 99 spectacular catch rating) it's fun to see him reach unattainable passes and go way up over defenders to bring down a pass you were sure was going to be picked off. If you’re ever doing a Fantasy Draft for Connected Careers pick him up, he tends to help offenses.
No. 2—Adrian Peterson
The major point of the advertising in this year’s Madden NFL was the much enhanced running game—meaning the game was pretty much geared to dominating with guys out of the backfield. Therefore, its only right that use most dominating running back in the game. Adrian Peterson will be able to accentuate the new juke moves, spin moves and the use of the precision button. By the way, it never hurts to use a cover athlete in the video game his face is (or in this case will be) plastered on.
No. 3—Robert Griffin III
If you’ve been a long time Madden fan then you are well aware of the most dominant player in Madden NFL history—Michael Vick in "Madden NFL 2004." (And if even if you just started playing Madden NFL this year EA Sports likes to remind everyone of who 2004 Michael Vick was.) Unfortunately for some, there really hasn’t been a player like him since. The closest you’re going to get in this year’s Madden NFL is Robert Griffin III. What made Vick so great was not only his ability to run but also his ability to fire it down the field with tremendous accuracy. RG3 has both with a 92 speed rating and an 85 deep accuracy throw rating. Just as he causes headaches for defenses in real life, he should cause headaches for your opponent in the game.
