A California fire grew overnight and was carried by strong winds across northern California, causing at least 150 people to be evacuated from their homes. The Jerusalem fire tore through 4,500 acres Tuesday night, which prompted residents in Napa and Yolo County to evacuate, according to the LA Times.com.
The fire originated from dry timber and brush in Lake County before it traveled into Napa County on Sunday, according to FOX News.
There have been more than 11,000 firefigthers battling the blaze from California and neighboring states.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has tried to contain the flames but only six percent has been contained so far, with full containment estimated to occur on Monday.
So far, no homes have been destroyed and no injuries or fatalities have been recorded for this fire, according to ABC News.
Fire officials are saying that the dry brush and lack of road access are hendering the firefighter's efforts to contain the Jerusalem fire.
Meanwhile, 15 other wildfires are burning in California, including the Rocky Fire.
Fire crews have created a firebreak between the two blazes, which essentially melded the two fires together, according to firefighter Steve Swindle.
The exact causes of the fires are still under investigation.
