A third adult film actor has reportedly tested positive for HIV, just a few days after porn star Rod Daily confirms his infection.
The Free Speech Coalition, a trade group responsible for the frequent testing of sexually transmitted for industry professionals, has not released the identity of the infected actor.
However, the New York Daily News reports the positive test was confirmed by a health facility used by the trade group.
Joanne Cachapero, membership director of the Free Speech Coalition, told Reuters the group is currently investigating to find the source of the infection.
"While we don't have evidence to suggest an on-set transmission as opposed to a transmission from non-industry (off-camera) related activity, we are taking every measure to determine the source and to protect the performer pool," Cachapero said in a statement.
Porn actress Cameron Bay (stage name) was the first to announce she was infected with HIV. Her announcement received a ton of support from her Twitter followers, but she hoped that no one else in the industry would test positive for the fatal disease.
"As difficult as this news is for me today, I am hopeful that no other performers have been affected. I plan on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and my fellow performers. Following that, my long-term plan is to take care of myself and my health," Bay said in a statement through the Free Speech Coalition.
Rod Daily (also a stage name) was the second actor to confirm his HIV positive test. He took to Twitter to speak out about his infection, noting that his first HIV test came back negative and it was scary that you could carry the virus without knowing it.
"Drumroll please!! I'm 32 years old and I'm HIV positive. Acute HIV, which means I recently was infected. For that I am blessed," Daily tweeted.
Bay's positive test stopped film production for a week, but the third case of HIV announced may cause for a longer shut down until the infection source is identified, according to multiple reports.
