Bobbi Morse a.k.a. Mockingbird barely survived Grant Ward's torture chamber in the season two finale of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." but she came up a bit lame with a devastating knee injury that will continue to hinder her return in the fall premiere.
"I think it's going to be challenging for her," Adrianne Palicki, who plays the kickass S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, told Den of Geek. "She's dealing with not having the use of her knee. She's missing part of a lung. There's going to be a lot of stuff she's having to deal with."
Palicki ended last season with her character in between multiple surgeries to repair the damage Ward inflicted on her. Fortunately, her on-again off-again boyfriend Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) sat by her side and when she woke up, he did his best to comfort.
The couple will continue to explore their relationship, but Bobbi came to the realization in the finale that she "can't do this anymore."
Another couple trying to spark the romantic flame is Agents Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), who mysteriously vanished when the giant Kree stone liquidized and swallowed Simmons whole. Her disappearance will remain missing after the show's time jump between seasons, but Fitz has never given up on finding his love.
"There's been such a big time gap, so one of the main focuses is that some of the characters have almost - not given up, but have been like, 'We've tried everything,'" Chloe Bennet, who plays Skye/Daisy, told Entertainment Weekly. "Fitz is that one person who's like, 'Not everything!'"
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
