Calvin Harris rushed to the defense of Taylor Swift after former One Directioner Zayn Malik retweeted a tweet from the handle @FemaleTexts (which has since been deleted), that negatively highlighted the differences between Swift and Miley Cyrus when it comes to making money.
The tweet showed a screenshot of an interview with Time in which Swift said the fans disappointed with her decision to stop streaming her music on Spotify can still purchase her music on iTunes. The post included a quote from Cyrus saying, "I've made my money. If no one buys my album, cool. It's fine. I've got a house, and I've got dogs that I love. I don't need anything else." The tweet concludes, "The difference is astounding," according to Time.
Harris, who is reportedly dating Swift, responded angrily to Malik's retweet and the two went back-and-forth.
Later, Louis Tomlinson - Malik's former One Direction bandmate appeared to have sided with Harris in the debate after he favorited one of the Scottish DJ's initial tweets aimed at Malik, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Last month, Swift and Nicki Minaj were involved in a Twitter spat after the rapper voiced her frustration over her music video "Anaconda" not getting a nomination for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, as HNGN previously reported.
