Harry Connick Jr.'s daughter Georgia was arrested this past weekend on charges of procuring alcohol for minors and permitting minors to possess alcohol. The 19-year-old daughter of the famous actor and musician is being accused of providing alcohol to minors at her own house party this past weekend, according to NBC.
The party took place at her families New Canaan, Connecticut home. A resident of the area called the police just after 1 a.m. to shut it down.
The call to the New Canaan police was to report that there was underage drinking going on, and the police found exactly that when they arrived on scene. When they arrived, many of the young guests fled from the home, trying to escape through the nearby wooded area. Several empty beer cans were found on scene. 15 guests between the ages of 18 and 20 remained inside the house when the police got there, and the officers contacted their parents.
"Georgia faces charges of permitting minors to possess alcohol and procuring alcohol for minors," New Canaan police said.
The "American Idol" judge and his wife Jill Goodacre were away when Georgia decided to have the party, according to WTNH. Georgia told the police that she had just planned on having a small get-together, but several univited guests arrived unexpectedly at the house.
Georgia was released on promise to appear in court on September 2. There was no mug shot taken because it was a summons arrest and she was never taken into custody.
"This is a private matter which we are dealing with as a family," Harry said in a statement to People on Tuesday. "We have no further comments. Thank you for understanding."
