Google-owned Boston Dynamics recently released a video showing its humanoid robot named "Atlas" traipsing through the woods, ABC News reported.
The video might remind you of big foot wandering amok, but Atlas is actually designed to rescue people who might be in trouble inside deep and dangerous forested areas. It can safely venture into dangerous conditions in order to help save lives.
"We're interested in getting this robot out in the world; it's a totally different, you can't predict what its going to be like. All kinds of stuff happens, and we're making pretty good progress in making its movement sort of within shooting range of yours, and if we keep pushing we'll get there," Marc Raibert, the founder of Boston Dynamics said according to Daily Mail.
The robot is still connected to a trailing power source but has become even more human-like in its movements and reactions. When hit by a rock, it can successfully keep its balance. It can also navigate a rocky trail. It is programmed to jog through rocky paths and was even tested in the actual forest.
Aside from the humanoid robot, the video also featured a cameo from Spot, a four-legged dog-like robot that can open a door knob without any problems.
Said video has caught the interest of more than 1.2 million people. There is also a full video of the human robot under development available to watch.
