‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 3 SPOILERS: Agent May Might Leave S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Melinda May asked for time off for "the first time in forever" in the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season two finale, but the most stoic member of Coulson's team might extend that much-deserved vacation a little longer than expected.

The upheaval of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra's reemergence and the hunt for more Inhumans has left May (Ming-Na Wen) out of sorts with her career at the agency and she's looking to reconnect with the world and possibly her ex-husband Andrew (Blair Underwood) in season three.

"In any situation when someone is so devoted to their work as May was, but then realizing over the last two years that S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't really what she dedicated her life to," Wen told TVGuide.com. "That there was definitely a lot of corruption to S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as uncertainty now with the Inhumans being brought in by Coulson. It's going to be figuring out her final decision in Season 3 and I think Andrew will probably play a part in it."

Last season revealed the story behind May's nickname "The Cavalry," which stemmed from a heartbreaking mission in Bahrain. The circumstances left May cold and she threw herself into work, jeopardizing her marriage with Andrew.

The former couple started to reconnect when Coulson (Clark Gregg) brought Andrew in to evaluate Skye after she went through the Terrigen Mist. Andrew previously left S.H.I.E.L.D. but he may continue to lend his services to the agency for the new Secret Warriors initative, which could put a schism between him and May again if she chooses not to return.

"What's interesting is now May is disgruntled by S.H.I.E.L.D., but last season when May came to Andrew with the idea of coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D., he was disgruntled and had left the agency," Underwood told TVGuide.com. "But now he's back working with them and the Inhumans."

Coulson has Skye/Daisy (Chloe Bennet) heading up the new initiative that will seek out other powered people like her. The team also will be dealing with the disappearance of Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and a seriously injured Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki).

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
