Right now the free agent market is pretty bare and because of that a past his prime Carlos Boozer may be the best free agent available in the NBA. Boozer spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and was productive in the minutes he received there. Boozer has had interest from NBA teams but the most recent interest he is getting is from a team in China, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
The team reportedly going after Boozer the hardest is the Sichaun Blue Whales, which is the team Metta World Peace played for last season. Boozer is reportedly intrigued by the idea of going over to play in China and would use it as a worst case scenario but he still is looking for an NBA contract.
Earlier this offseason Boozer had interest from the New York Knicks as they were looking for a veteran big man but the Knicks instead decided to sign Kevin Seraphin to a deal. Besides the Knicks there have been reports of the Miami Heat potentially having interest in Boozer along with a few other contending teams.
Boozer is now 33 years old and is likely looking to join a team that can contend for a championship. Boozer would still be able to provide a nice bench presence for a team as a big man that can score and rebound. Last season with the Lakers in only 23.8 minutes Boozer averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game which are still extremely productive numbers.
Last season the Blue Whales ended with an 8-30 record and finished in 18th place in their league so they don't appear to be a winning atmosphere. Boozer will likely get some sort of minimum contract offer from an NBA team that he will probably accept if the Blue Whales are currently his best offer.
