Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Captain America: Civil War."
It wouldn't be a Civil War without some superhero on superhero action. As such, Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man and Chris Evans' Captain America will be joined by a handful of other heroes willing to throw fisticuffs. This will include Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the character's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
But who will the Wall-Crawler be brawling with?
Heroic Hollywood reports that Spidey will be taking on none other than Captain America himself.
Earlier rumors hinted that Spider-Man's role in "Civil War" would be more than a brief cameo. Reports claimed that he would actually throw down in the film, though it wouldn't be with the elegance one might expect from a superhero. Remember, Marvel Studios purposely went young with this iteration of Spider-Man, so the character hasn't been in the crime fighting game for long. He's essentially a callow rookie going up against battle-tested veterans.
Why he would agree to get mixed up with Captain America is unknown at this point. In the original comic book story line, Spider-Man begins the conflict siding with Iron Man before discovering the pro-registration side's darker intentions and defecting for Captain America's resistance. It's possible that a similar arc could play out in the film.
Regardless of his motives, Spider-Man will still not be a big part of this film. "Civil War" also has to introduce Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo and Martin Freeman's unnamed character in addition to bringing back the majority of familiar faces. There just isn't enough room to give Spidey the center stage. So even if he does come to blows with Captain America, it will likely be resolved (or finished) quickly.
"Captain America: Civil War" will be released May 6, 2016.
