Daredevil faced off against Kingpin. Jessica Jones will try to take down Kilgrave and her love interest Luke Cage may have found his challenger in the Marvel villain Black Mariah.
Marvel's "Luke Cage," the third of four planned series on Netflix, is finalizing a deal to cast Alfre Woodard as the possible villain for the show, according to Deadline. Her character is listed as Minetta, a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage's (Mike Colter) life.
But Woodard's character actually may be Black Mariah who is a professional criminal and drug dealer in the Marvel comics. She's also a nemesis to both Luke Cage and Iron Fist, who will topline the fourth Marvel-Netflix series.
The upcoming "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," starring Krysten Ritter, will introduce the Luke Cage character. The show is set to premiere later this year on Netflix.
Woodard recently appeared in the TNT series, "The Last Ship," and starred opposite Katherine Heigl in the short-lived NBC show, "State of Affairs."
Netflix has not announced a premiere date for Marvel's "Luke Cage."
