Sony has announced the six games that Playstation Plus members will be able to grab for free beginning Sept. 1. The pack includes the winner that Plus users selected for the lineup in Sony's "Vote to Play" promo, reported by HNGN earlier. "Your voices have been heard," announced Ryan Clements in the Playstation's blog. "We're delighted to reveal your selection, and the first title in next month's free games lineup: 'Grow Home' on PS4."
"Grow Home" garnered the most votes in the "Vote to Play" campaign, followed by "Armello" and "Zombie Vikings." Although the runner-ups are not available for free, gamers could still purchase them at a 30 percent discount from Sept. 1 to 15.
The winning game is all "about BUD (Botanical Utility Droid), who is traveling the stars in search of new flora to help his home planet," according to Clements. Players will be climbing a massive plant to board the ships that would shuttle them through space.
Due to Cross-Buy support with PS Vita, PS4 owners will get "Super Time Force Ultra" and "Xeodrifter" while PS3 players take home "Teslagrad," Gamespot reported. Rounding up the free games are PS3's "Twisted Metal," which is a classic car combat with huge power-ups and explosions, and PS Vita's "La Mulana EX," a "riddle-filled adventure to challenge-hungry gamers," Clements added.
The free games announcement is a welcome news for Playstation owners who must have been crushed with the recent admission from Sony that the first-party lineup is a little less this year. All is not lost, however, as "this may be due to how Sony may be looking at third-party support for games," reported the International Business Times. Furthermore, Sony has reassured fans that they are looking at investing in several new titles so that there is a steady stream of games until 2016 according to Gamingbolt.
