Curt Schilling was a borderline Hall of Famer back when he used to pitch in the MLB. Nowadays he is a baseball analyst and frequent user of Twitter. Schilling has been known to say some very inflammatory things on his Twitter account and he was at it again on Tuesday afternoon. Schilling tweeted out a photo that compared Muslims to Nazi Germany, according to Deadspin.
The photo reads "It's said ONLY 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, ONLY 7% of Germans were Nazi's. How'd that go?" Schilling added a caption that read "The math is staggering when you get to true #'s."
The tweet has since been deleted by Schilling and he has gone on apologize for the mistake of tweeting it out but it sparked a lot of controversy on Twitter. Schilling said the tweet didn't come across as he intended and it wasn't interpreted the way he had hoped.
This isn't the first time that Schilling has sparked major uproar on Twitter as he did so last November when he was attempting to disprove evolution and also this March when Twitter trolls were bashing his daughter after he had announced she was going to play softball in college.
Schilling has been in the news a lot since he has retired from baseball and the majority of the time it hasn't been good things. Whether it was him declaring for bankruptcy or him sparking Twitter controversy things haven't come easy for Schilling since hanging up his spikes. Schilling can be seen on ESPN giving his analysis on everything going on in the MLB or you can catch him on Twitter where it seems as though he is good for a controversial tweet every now and then.
UPDATE: In light of Schilling's thoughtless tweet ESPN has decided to remove him from their coverage of the Little League World Series. Here is their statement:
"Curt's tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company's perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration."
