Miley Cyrus came out as bisexual two months ago and she has now redefined her sexuality identity as pansexual.
"I'm very open about it - I'm pansexual," Cyrus told Elle UK magazine in the latest issue. "But I'm not in a relationship. I'm 22, I'm going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with."
The MTV VMAs host is gender fluid, neither identifying as one specific gender nor having romantic feelings for one or the other. She has dated both men and women and was most recently linked to Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell.
"I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn't involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that's legal, I'm down with. Yo, I'm down with any adult -- anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me," Cyrus told Paper Mag in June. "I don't relate to being boy or girl, and I don't have to have my partner relate to boy or girl."
Cyrus realized her attraction to both girls and boys at age 14 and found the courage to open up to her mother Tish Cyrus about it at that time.
"I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys," she said. "And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn't want me to be judged and she didn't want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has."
Pansexuality "generally means that somebody is open to either falling in love and or being sexually attracted to people of all genders," sex researcher Dr. Debby Hebernick told Yahoo! Health.
Hebernick, who is the associate director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University, also explained that pansexuals are open to more than just male and female gender types and are attracted to people who identify as gender-queer or transgender as well as those who identify as a man or woman.
Cyrus will host the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 9 p.m.
