Madeleine Albright: Iran Deal Gets 'Strong Endorsement'

In an op-ed piece for CNN on Mondau, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright explained why she thinks the Iran Deal is a good idea.

"The United States and Iran have been locked in an adversarial relationship since the 1979 hostage crisis," she wrote, according to CNN. "After careful review of its provisions, I have given the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action my strong endorsement."

The legislation in question is better known as the Iran Deal, an agreement with Iran that has proved to be highly politically polarizing.

"The prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran has rightfully earned a place at the top of the long list of threats to global stability. No diplomatic agreement or military action could guarantee that Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon, but even most opponents agree this accord puts that goal firmly out of Iran's reach for a decade or more. From any vantage point, that is a positive development, but at a time of great turmoil in the Middle East it is especially welcome," Albright wrote, CNN reported.

Albright also expressed her opinion on the current migrant crisis in Europe, according to NewsMax. "I was a refugee," she said. Albright was born in Czechoslovakia.

House Republicans have already denounced the Iran Deal and will not support it. So far, only two Democratic Senators have said they will not back the deal, according to Tasmin News. Congress will be back in session after Labor Day. The House and Senate are expected to vote on the Iran Deal then.
