Star Wars Episode 7 Casting Rumors: Jonathan Rhys Meyers To Play A Darkside Villain? 13 Actors Connected to J.J. Abram's Newest Flick

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is the latest actor linked to Star Wars Episode 7, but he doesn't seem to read too much into the hype surrounding the newest film.

"I play bad guys because I look like one," Meyers told Entertainment Weekly. "There's something in my physicality that's quite intense and lends me to being feral. I mean, I'd love to be this lovely relaxed guy doing rom-coms, but I just don't get those types of offers. I suppose I'm forever sort of the antihero."

While promoting his new role in NBC's new series Dracula, premiering Oct. 25, the actor spoke with EW about the Star Wars speculation.

"Look, I've worked with J.J. [Abrams]," Meyers said, who co-starred in Abrams' Mission: Impossible III in 2006. "But I don't believe rumors."

Meyers admitted he is not a film buff, and rarely goes to see a movie at a theater.

"To be honest, I don't watch many movies," Meyers continued. "There's very, very few films that I will go to the cinema to see. I'll go to the cinema to see anything by Paul Thomas Anderson or Nicholas Winding Refn or Mike Leigh or Steven Spielberg. But I don't go to the cinema very often. I read a lot."

Maybe he will be cast as a character on the "darkside?" Meyers joins the ever growing list of actors chosen to be a part of Abrams' newest film project.

Just in case you have not been following the casting rumors, here is a list of actors who have been associated with the film thus far.

1. Chloe Grace Moretz

2. Benedict Cumberbatch

3. Zac Efron

4. Ryan Gosling

5. Liam McIntyre

6. Ksenia Solo

7. Alex Pettyfer

8. William Shatner

9. Leonardo DiCaprio

10. Kristen Stewart

11. Robert Pattinson

12. Rachel Hurd-Wood

13. Ewan McGregor

And that probably doesn't even cover all of them. Abrams will continue to keep quiet about the film, but the originals, such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all expected to return.

None of these casting rumors have been confirmed, and it seems Star Wars fans will be kept waiting for quite some time. The film is set to be released in 2015.
