This week marks one year since Joan Rivers' death and her daughter Melissa Rivers opened up in an interview with Entertainment Tonight about honoring her mother's legacy, the comfort she's received from fans and where she scattered her mother's ashes with her 14-year-old son Cooper.
"Coop and I took our annual family vacation to Wyoming," Melissa told ET. "[The] first without my mom and scattered some of her ashes there so we can still be together every August as a family."
Rivers opened up about how she found the strength to push through the past year, and said that she's kept going because it's the only way to honor her mother's legacy.
"She was not a quitter," Rivers said. "Nothing ever stopped her, if she couldn't get through this door she went through that window. So the best way to honor her legacy is to be OK."
She also opened up about the comfort that she still receives from fans that knew and loved her mother's work.
"I mean, it's always happiest when they say 'she made me laugh,'" Rivers said smiling.
She revealed that she wears her mother's gold Cartier wrist watch with a pale pink face since she passed, as a way to carry a piece of her with her wherever she goes. The anniversary of her mother's death is on Sept. 4, and Rivers said she's planning to spend the day with her son.
