Chelsea Clinton knows a thing or two about politics. The daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton was asked about rapper Kanye West's recent announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards that he planned to run for president in 2020, and her answer was surprising.
The former First Daughter said that West's VMA deceleration was "awesome."
"I definitely think who runs for office is really important," Clinton told MTV News. "Even if him just saying that helps spark a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, 'Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,' that's awesome."
As for whether or not she would actually vote for him, she thought it was a little too early to know. "I think it depends on who he'd be running against," she said, according to E! News.
On Sunday Aug. 30 West accepted the Video Vanguard Award and announced his bid at the end of his long speech. "As you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president," West revealed, according to United Press International.
