Three brothers were found in the back seat of a vehicle at an elementary school in Los Angeles on Wednesday, stabbed to death allegedly by their own father before he turned the blade on himself.
The father, who is believed to be in his 30s, was discovered in the front seat of the vehicle bleeding from stab wounds in the chest and the knife was placed in the passenger seat. The boys, ages 8 to 12, were declared dead on arrival, according to the Associated Press.
The father, who is identified by family as Luis Fuentes, was taken to the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center and is now in stable condition. Fuentes is the only suspect in the killings and a motive is currently being determined.
At 7:15 a.m., the police received a call from a man named John Sorrentino, who reported an assault with a deadly weapon in the 300 block of East 32nd Street close to Dolores Huerta Elementary School, according to ABC7.
Sorrentino revealed that the crime scene took place next to his furniture shop. Upon inspecting the scene, he rushed to his shop and called 911.
Police said they will not be searching for additional suspects. "These are horrific incidents," Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said, according to NBC Los Angeles. "These are incidents that scar not only a community but the first responders who have to handle them."
