The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have officially come out and lines have been out the door at Apple stores and mobile phone retailers since late Thursday evening. While the iPhone 5C is touted as being the low-cost version of the iPhone, the devices are still a little pricey with the 5C starting at $99 and the 5S at $199. If this is a little expensive for you, but you still would like one of the new iPhones, several retailers have you covered on trade-ins of your old model. Below is a list of places to trade in your iPhone coutesy of USA Today.
Apple: Apple is offering trade ins on old iOS devices, Macs or PC at any of its Apple retail stores. The company will then recycle the device and give you a gift card that can be used for the purchase of a new Apple product. The amount of money the company will give you will depend on the quality of the device you are handing in. Obviously the iPhone 5 will fetch more money than an iPhone 3GS.
Best Buy: Starting on Friday, the store will give you a 16GB iPhone 5C for free if you trade in an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. Customers must be eligible for an upgrade and commit to a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless, AT&T or Sprint.
Gazelle: This has been a popular service for trading in phones for quite some time. Gazelle will give you up to $350 for your iPhone, in cash, depending on its condition. However, this isn't to say that they will not accept broken phones, they just obviously won't be worth as much. Gazzelle will take iPhones, iPads, Mabooks, Macs, iPods and some select non-Apple devices including BlackBerry and HTC.
GameStop: The store accepts trade-ins on iOS devices as well as Android devices for cash. Cash or store credit will be used toward the purchase of games or refurbished gadgets. Unfortunately this likely won't go toward a new iPhone as the store is mostly a gaming retailer. You can check out what your phone's value is HERE.
Walmart: Starting on Saturday, users can receive credit toward the purchase of a new smartphone when trading in your current device. Credit will range anywhere from $50 to $300 for over 100 different types of smartphones. The trade-in value of your old phone will be applied to the purchase of your new one with a two year contract at any of the major retailers accepted by Best Buy and other competitors.
