When Homeland resumes we won’t see Brody (Damian Lewis) for a while due to his fugitive status. However, what about his status on the show? According to Lewis, there seems to be opposing ideas on the subject.
"I think simply for creative and artistic reasons, the writers want to kill me," he said in an interview with Mens Journal.
If that’s the case, Brody fans might have to write a letter to a few executives, thanking them for their generosity.
"There are so many compelling and devastating story lines that would just be great TV and theater,” added Lewis. “The more compromised storytelling is to keep him alive and to keep him bubbling alone somehow. It's the executives that write that version."
However, Damien Lewis fans may have been writing a different type of letter if the executives had their way when the show was in the midst of casting. “Homeland” co-creator Alex Gansa told the magazine that the higher-ups were adamant about staying away from Lewis.
"They told me, 'I never want to hear that name again; Damian Lewis is a dead issue,'" he said.
It’s a good thing they changed their minds. The English-born actor has done an outstanding job portraying the good-guy turned bad guy turned (well we actually don’t know what he is know). He even won a Golden Globe award this year for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series.
