Caslte's proposal to Beckett at the swingset is one of the images stuck in many TV lovers' brains as the fall season ensues. It was a pretty significant moment in their relationship. However, according to Fillion, the significance of the proposal isn't really what's on his mind.
"I really don't think of it in those terms. I think of it more in terms of the well-being of the show," he said in an interview with TVLine. "I mean, I come to work every day and I don't really think, 'What's in it for me?' This is a real team effort, and when you're here every day, when there's 60 guys here and we're all doing the same thing, and we're all plugging away - and a lot of people here are working a lot harder than I am - I tend to think of it in terms of the well-being of the show."
Fillion also said Castle's relationship with Beckett leading up to the big question "seemed like a natural progession."
Well, having Castle propose most definitely helped the "well-being" of the show. However, Beckett's answer (and her decision on whether or not she should join the FBI) could mean bad things for the "well-being" of her relationship with Castle.
Katic previously told TVLine, "Real relationships are not compromised because one person is having success in their career." Prior to Castle's proposal, Beckett had been questioning the authenticity of their relationship. If their relationship is "real" maybe she say yes. However, something tells me that no matter what happens at the swing, things are going to get bumpy for "Casket" before they get good.
"Castle" returns Monday, Sept. 30, 10/9c on ABC.
