Ariana Grande stopped by "Good Morning America" this morning to promote her new "passion project" fragrance, "Ari by Ariana Grande." During the interview, host Laura Spencer asked Grande about a now infamous video in which the pop star licked donuts at a donut shop and was heard saying "I hate Americans. I hate America."
"We want to start with that video that made headlines earlier this summer. You were in a donut shop in California and you said some hurtful things about Americans and about people's weight," Spencer told Grande. "A lot of people were offended by your words, what do you want to say?"
"First of all, my behavior was very offensive and I apologize there, is no excuse or there is nothing to justify it," Grande said. "I think that as human beings we all say and do things that we don't mean at al,l and we have to learn from it. That's part of our process, we have to learn from our mistakes and that is how we grow."
Grande previously issued an apology on YouTube over her actions at the Wolfee donut shop in California.
"I just want to make a video to apologize again for the whole donut fiasco and craziness because I feel like the apology I posted, I kind of missed my opportunity to actually sincerely apologize and express how I was feeling because I was too busy preaching about my feelings with the food industry, which is not relative," Grande said at the time.
"I was trying to get you to understand where I was coming from when I said what I said," she continued. "But that's not important. I'd rather just apologize and I feel like now is my chance before the whole thing blows over to say my sorry."
