Color Feng Shui: Use Color Schemes To Improve Your Home's Vibe And Energy (INFOGRAPHIC)

Color is a vital aspect in design and at home, picking the right colors to decorate a space can do wonders in many ways. Aside from the aesthetic appeal, colors can bring the right vibe to a room. "Color can either bring balance, harmony, and good energy," said Feng Shui expert Rodika Tchi, via Elle Decor. "Or it can create chaos and low energy in one's space.

"The use of color is very important in feng shui because each color is an expression of one of the five elements - wood, earth, fire, water, and metal. It can bring balance, harmony, and good energy to one's space."

"It is not just about the visual beauty, as I see so many beautiful interiors with very weak or even plain bad feng shui. It is about creating good energy that is needed, and this is where a skillful use of color brings enormous benefits - living in a space that has vibrant, healthy energy, and is nourishing for you and your relationships," he added.

The expert recommends looking up Feng Shui guidelines, also known as "bagua," in incorporating color and home design. Below are some basic ideas:

Yellow, the color of sunlight, evokes a cozy and warm atmosphere that's perfect for the living room or a kid's bedroom. Among children, yellow stimulates brain activity and it is the color of choice for those suffering from dyslexia, according to Dyslexic Org.

Red is an intense and vibrant color that brings the strongest energy to the house, It is also the color of luck and romance for the Chinese, thus making it most appropriate for accentuating the bedroom. If red is too much, switch to pink or magenta, according to Know Feng Shui.

Blue brings serenity and health. It works wonders in the bathroom, as it represents water, and the bedroom.

Green is the color of health and balance. It's a nourishing shade that can be used in the family area, living room or home office. Use different shades of green to draw more energy.

Orange is the color of communication, thus it is considered a social color, according to Color Meanings. It evokes lively conversations and stimulates appetite, so it's best for the living room area or the kitchen.

White signifies purity and as it is the shade that absorbs all colors, it is the most satisfying to have within a space. However, some spaces in the house, such as the east or southeast wings, will lack good energy if white is used as the dominant color, according to About Home.
