Universal Pictures announced on Wednesday that the release of "Legend" has been postponed. The Tom Hardy-starring film will release on Friday, Nov. 20 instead of the film's original Oct. 2 release date.
The film will first hit theaters in New York and Los Angeles before expanding nationwide on Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Legend" follows the true story of notorious British gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray, both played by Hardy. The film, which was written and directed by Brian Helgeland, has received mixed reviews since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), but Hardy's double role has been widely praised, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Previously slated to go up against Ridley Scott's "The Martian," "Legend" will now compete with likely box office powerhouse "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2."
The film, which also stars Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Duffy, Christopher Eccleston and Chazz Palminteri, was produced by StudioCanal, Working Title and Cross Creek.
At the film's press release at TIFF a few days ago, Hardy was annoyed by a reporter who asked him questions about his sexuality. Click HERE to watch the video.
