After USC lost to Stanford 41-31 this Sunday, there was a reported altercation between two players in the tunnel back to the locker room, according to TMZ. While this information was released, USC issued a statement denying any report of any altercation in the tunnel after the game, according to Bleacher Report.
"We have checked with multiple people who were in the tunnel after the game, including Coach [Steve] Sarkisian, other coaches, security staff, players and other members of the Athletic Department and no one saw any such incident. There also were 50-plus members of the media walking up the tunnel with both teams and there were no reports of any post-game altercation," said USC Sports Information Director Tim Tessalone, via Bleacher Report.
This statement is contradictory to what was reported to have happened in the tunnel after the game. The players had to be physically restrained, according to TMZ. Whether it happened or not has yet to be seen, but for USC football and Trojan fans they are likely more focused on Arizona State and trying to get their first win in the Pac 12. USC was projected to be one of the top progams in the nation this upcoming season, but incidents or alledged altercations like these can distract teams from focusing on football. Head coach Sarkisian will have to have his team focused on football this week, as it has a big test against the Sun Devils.
