Plot:
This spinoff of “The Vampire Diaries” centers on the life of the original family of Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah. On a trip to New Orleans, Klaus meets up with his old friend and mentee Marcel who now runs the town Klaus used to run. In this “new” New Orleans, witchcraft cannot be practiced unless sanctioned by Marcel. This causes the witch Sophie to orchestrate a plan to take him down. She needs someone stronger than Marcel. She needs the strongest vampire/werewolf in the world. She needs Klaus. So to do that she uses the son that Klaus doesn’t know he has by Haley. (Yup that one night stand produced a baby.) At first Klaus wants no part of Sophie’s plan. However, after realizing the danger and annoyance that is Marcel, Klaus vows to regain control of New Orleans thus helping Sophie’s plan.
Preliminary Pro:
By default this show will gain probably 98 percent of the viewers who watch “The Vampire Diaries”. It has the same beloved Originals that everyone hated and then fell in love with. Although it will be slightly different from its predecessor, the show should still come with much of the things we love from “The Vampire Diaries.”
Preliminary Con:
Some viewers may find a sense of unrealism here (yes I know that most things in a vampire show are unrealistic) since Klaus could simply kill Marcel and his band of vampires. Also, there may be some TVD fans who don’t think the Originals were quite done with their stories on “The Vampire Diaries”.
Trailer:
“The Originals” premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c on The CW.
