Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham didn't speak to the media Sunday Night after losing to the Green Bay Packers 27-17, but head coach Pete Carroll said he thinks Graham is frustrated, according to Josh Apler of Pro Football Talk.
The Seahawks acquired Jimmy Graham this offseason when Seattle traded center Max Unger to New Orleans for the star tight end. Last season with the Saints, Graham had 85 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. So far this season Graham has seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown with Seattle.
While this is just a small sample size, Graham has only been targeted 10 times this season in two games, and last season was targeted 124 times averaging over seven targets per game. He had one catch on two targets against the Packers Sunday night, and that is likely why he seems frustrated.
"It's frustrating... we have to find our way to get that done," said Carroll, via Seahawks beat writer Gregg Bell. Jimmy Graham clearly wasn't thrilled with his usage against the Packers, according to NFL reporter Michael Silver.
Carroll said they have set up opportunities to get him the ball.
"The ball just didn't get there. We're going to have to develop our way because we love him to get the football. We probably called six different things that he could have had the ball in the first half, and it just didn't go there for one reason or another," said Carroll, via ESPN.
The Seahawks play the Bears this weekend, and they have given up the most points by any team through two weeks. Look for the Seahawks to likely feature Graham heavily this weekend, as he could probably take advantage of a slow Bears defense.
The real question will be how Graham is covered, because the Seahawks will likely put up points on Chicago, but who gets the ball depends on who is covered.
