It's been almost 40 years since we've seen the Scotland pop band Bay City Rollers top the charts, but they're officially making their comeback!
Three of the original five band members, Les McKeown, Alan Longmuir and Stuart Wood, announced that they will be reuniting for a performance at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom on Dec. 20, according to Billboard. Erick Faulkner and Derek Longmuir were the other two members and apparently, Faulkner may be joining them over the next few weeks. Longmuir, on the other hand, is just not interested.
"A very special Christmas present to all the fans that have kept the faith with the band over the years," they announced during a press conference while McKeown told reporters. "You think we're doing it for the money but we're doing it for the glory of Scotland and the glory of the tartan. Taking the Scottish name all around the globe. That's what we're doing it for-to see our fans again one more time."
The band had a huge teen following during their time and sold over 100 million records, according to The Guardian. They are most known for their upbeat hits like "Bye Bye Baby," "I Only Wanna Be With You," and "Saturday Night." Some even describe them as the One Direction of that time period, though McKeown believes they were bigger.
"I'm feeling great, I'm feeling fabulous," McKeown continued to say. "It's been hard work on everyone's part. Maybe I instigated it a couple of years ago when I mentioned on TV that I'd love to get back with the guys and put a little seed in everyone's head. Slowly but surely we started to gravitate towards each other again."
The band has plans to play a number of shows in Glasglow and eventually embark on a larger tour, which will be announced at a later time. In the meantime, they have been working on a new single called "Boomerang." "The curse has been lifted," McKeown revealed. "We're writing the last chapter."
