Karen Parker Gray was a rich New York heiress, who lived a life of luxury at the Upper East Side until her death on Aug. 24 of natural causes. However, a month after her death, she has gone out of her way to make the people who took care of her by giving them $50,000 each as a token of her appreciation, the Examiner reported.
One of the people she's given the hefty sum to is Jenny Kim, a 60-year-old married Korean immigrant who works as a nail technician at the Echo Spa and Nail Shop.
Gray was one of Kim's loyal customers, often visiting her shop twice a week for 12 years, and the heiress gave the nail technician the big sum because of her "love and devotion," as stated in a letter that was given to her.
"I feel good that she remembered me like that - not about the money," Kim said with the help of a Korean translator, according to the New York Daily News.
Besides her favorite nail technician, Gray also bequeathed the same hefty amount to several other people as stated in her 10-page handwritten will.
Among them was her beloved hairdresser, Elie Camaro, who works at Frédéric Fekkai. Gray wrote about him in her letter: "Forever grateful for his friendship, and perfect hair. $50,000 toward a fabulous car!"
Other recipients of the $50,000 grand include her housekeeper, doorman and even Gray's favorite coat check woman at Fekkai.
All in all, she shelled out $3 million in her will. The actual sum of Gray's fortune stays unknown to the public, according to AM New York.
