Nevada Teen FOUND: Manhunt For 16-Year-Old Adrian Navarro-Canales, Accused Of Killing Mother And Brother, Ends In Local Food Court

The six-day manhunt for Nevada teen Adrian Navarro-Canales ends as the 16-year-old accused of killing his mother and brother was found in a food court on the Las Vegas Strip.

Authorities said they received an anonymous tip the boy was spotted sitting alone at in the food court of Showcase mall. Police approached Navarro-Canales at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a news release.

"He was sitting at a table," police spokesman Keith Paul told the Associated Press. "The two detectives walked up to him and took him into custody."

Navarro-Canales did not resist arrest.

The 16-year-old was booked into the juvenile holding area of the Clark County Detention Center, but is charged with two counts of murder as an adult.

"Navarro-Canales is accused of the stabbing death of his mother, Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and his 9-year-old brother, Cesar Navarro," the Henderson Police Department said. "Police had been searching for Navarro-Canales since his mother and brother were found slain about noon on Friday."

Authorities originally believed Navarro-Canales was another victim of the crime. Upon further investigation of the scene, the evidence reportedly revealed otherwise.

"When the woman and her young son were found in the apartment, detectives thought the older son might also have been a victim," the Henderson Police department said in a news release. "As the investigation progressed, Navarro-Canales went from a missing person to a person of interest. By Sunday, detectives had the probable cause to arrest Navarro-Canales in connection with his family's murder."

According to CNN, authorities suspect the 16-year-old may have continued to live in the home after he allegedly killed his mother and brother.

"Police believe the teen continued living in the unit with the dead bodies, the station reported. His brother was later found in the apartment's bathtub and his mother nearby with a knife in the center of her chest," CNN reports.
