Dog lovers know how important it is to let their pets exercise. A walk in the park is one of the special ways dogs and their owners bond, but some take it up a notch by bringing their furry best friend on a camping trip.
On Instragram, people have been sharing photos of themselves or their dogs while on a camping getaway. The hashtag #CampingWithDogs has been teeming with posts for a while now, and it has sparked the latest outdoor trend among lovers of nature.
It has also inspired Nashville-based avid camper and dog lover Ryan Carter to launch Camping With Dogs, which sells camping merchandise, as well as promote the hobby among dog owners. "I own a social media agency in Nashville, so naturally I'm always thinking about ways to blend my career with my passions," Carter said via Buzzfeed.
"I have a fiancée and two dogs, and we love doing everything together. Our favorite memories are disconnecting from our phones and internet and going camping. That's the place I was coming from that led me to create Camping With Dogs. I wanted to create an online community for the outdoorsy dog owner," Carter added.
His idea has generated a strong response and an international following.
"Dogs are always ready to go," Carter said via The Telegraph. "I can remember back in college trying to plan an outing, and everyone either flaked or found a party to attend. Once you get a dog, you never have to worry about not having a friend to join you on an adventure. That, and there's nothing better than seeing your dog's face light up because we're going on a ride somewhere. It's the best feeling in the world!"
Early this month, Carter hosted the very first National Camping With Dogs Day, and based on the photos collected from the event, you could say that it was fairly a success despite no official affiliations, according to Elite Daily.
