Daniel Handler, AKA Lemony Snicket, Makes $1 Million Donation To Planned Parenthood

Daniel Handler, most commonly known as Lemony Snicket - author of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" announced his support for Planned Parenthood on Twitter today, according to TIME. In his tweet, he pledged to donate $1 million dollars to the company currently under congressional investigation.

Planned Parenthood responded via twitter with this tweet.

Lisa Brown gave a statement as to why her and her husband have decided to make this donation.

"My husband and I have supported Planned Parenthood for years, for obvious reasons: It's a great organization that has provided top-quality health care for countless women and families in our lives. This year, Planned Parenthood has gone through a series of unfortunate events, and it felt right to make our support more public and more dramatic," she said, according to Buzzfeed.

The couple stands strong in their beliefs, especially on issues of women's health. This donation isn't the first the couple has made to the organization either, according to the Daily Dot.

In a 2007 article, Handler wrote on his wealth and success, and how he wished to use it to help others and organizations such as Planned Parenthood, according to the article in the New York Times.

Planned Parenthood is currently defending itself in court against allegations that the organization illegally sold fetal tissue for a profit, according to the Daily Dot. Court hearings are still ongoing.
