Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Captain America: Civil War."
Despite being the least charismatic of all the Avengers, Captain America has ascended through the ranks of comic book movie superheroes largely thanks to the awesomeness that was "The Winter Soldier." As a result, fans are beyond excited for "Captain America: Civil War" which will feature a handful of Marvel's biggest heroes going head to head. The film may not hit theaters until next year, but marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is already providing fans with some necessary details. Feige had this interesting tidbit to offer during an interview with MTV News:
"It's very much, in a certain way, the completion of a Captain America trilogy, I think one day you'll look back and watch - 'Captain America: The First Avengers,' 'Captain America: The Winter Soldiers,' and 'Captain America: Civil War' - and it'll be one of the most unique and different trilogies ever around a single character."
The completion of the Captain America trilogy suggests a sort of finality for the character. While we know he'll be present for "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part I & II," Feige's comments do little to assuage the concerns of fans who think Steve Rogers may be killed off at the conclusion of "Civil War" as he is in the comic book storyline.
Feige was also asked about the other MCU characters who will be appearing in the film and added this:
"[We're] bringing in some of the other players, most importantly Tony Stark, to tell that 'Civil War' story. But it is very much a sequel to 'Winter Soldier.'
Again, Feige is indicating a conclusion to the Captain America storyline which may extend to the character as well (for now). However, it sounds as if the tone of the film will mirror "The Winter Soldier" and that's good news all around.
"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
