Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive details on who has been cast for the key role of Hizdahr zo Loraq, a Meereen man who tangles with Daenerys Targaryen in season 4 of HBO's "Game of Thrones."
British actor Joel Fry will be playing the part of Hizdahr, his character described as an extremely wealthy nobleman and "young scion of an ancient Meereenese family who crosses paths with Daenerys." Mereen is the largest slave city of the three great Slaver Cities of Slaver's Bay, the others being Astapor and Yunkai, both of which Dany conquered and freed in season 3.
Although Hizdahr is not introduced until George R. R. Martin's fifth novel, "A Dance With Dragons," show writers and producers have taken some liberties with the timeline of events, as season 4 is meant to cover the second half of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" serie's third book, "A Storm of Swords."
According to WinterIsComing.net, actor Joel Fry is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and has previously appeared in British television shows "Trollied," "Plebs," "White Van Man" and has featured in the 2013 film "Svengali."
WinterIsComing.net fans who have read Martin's books have a generally positive consensus about the casting choice, many writing that he looks the part and feel he can properly pull off the role of Hizdahr.
Other actors set to join the sprawling and ever-evolving cast of "Game of Thrones" include Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper), Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand), Mark Gattis, and Icelandic indie band Sigur Rós, whose role has yet to be announced.
Filming for season 4 has already begun in Croatia for Daenerys and King's Landing scenes, including an epic scene with the Unsullied army involving dozens of crew members, cranes and extras.
