West Bank Clashes: Palestinian Boys Killed In Violent Clashes With Israeli Forces

Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinian boys as violent clashes between Palestinian people and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) flared in West Bank on Monday.

An Israeli soldier shot Abdul Rahman Obeidallah, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy, during clashes in Bethlehem city, West Bank on Monday, reported BBC. He was reportedly shot in the chest during clashes at the Jewish shrine of Rachel's Tomb.

Obeidallah was second Palestinian youth killed in 24 hours amidst increasing violence across the occupied West Bank and in Jerusalem.

An 18-year-0ld Palestinian youth, Huthayfa Othman Suleiman, was shot dead by IDF soldiers in Tulkarem on Sunday night.

"He is not the first martyr, nor will he be the last, but he died for his homeland," his father, Othman Suleiman, said at his son's funeral on Monday, according to Guardian.

The clashes between IDF and the Palestinians erupted last week following Israeli restrictions on worshipers at al-Aqsa mosque in the Jerusalem.

"In recent days we have seen an increase in violence. There have been multiple violent riots in Northern Bethlehem and Al Aida refugee camp targeting civilian and security forces at Rachel's tomb. Rioters have been attacking security forces by hurling rocks, Molotov cocktails and IEDs," an IDF spokesperson said, according to CNN.

On Sunday, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas made a phone call to United Nations Chief Ban ki-Moon, urging him to "act toward granting the Palestinian people international protection from Israeli aggression and violence perpetrated by settlers in the West Bank," according to Haaretz.

Recent violence began on Oct. 3 with the stabbing of an Israeli soldier near the walled Old City, as HNGN reported previously.

Another Israeli was killed in separate stabbing attack on Sunday while an Israeli couple was gunned down by a Palestinian shooter in a drive-by attack on Thursday night, as HNGN reported previously.
