Jimmy Snuka: Murder Case Skips Preliminary Hearing, Heads Straight For Trial

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka will be heading straight for trial in the death of his girlfriend more than 30 years ago.

Defense lawyers decided on Wednesday to skip preliminary hearings in Lehigh County as long as they were given access to grand jury transcripts and other evidence in the death of 34-year-old Nancy Argentino, according to Fox News.

The 72-year-old wrestler was charged last month with third degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in connection to Argentino's death, which took place in Allentown, Penn. after a WWE taping in 1983, as HNGN previously reported.

Authorities found Argentino unresponsive in a hotel room she shared with Snuka. Investigators revealed that she had more than 30 bruises and a skull fracture, and that the cause of death was multiple head injuries.

"It's not a day he's dreading. It's a day of freedom for him to prove he's an innocent man," said Robert Kirwan, Snuka's Berks County-based attorney, according to WFMZ.

This isn't Snuka's first run-in with the law. He was charged with second and third-degree assault on Argentino in upstate New York four months before her death, for which he pleaded guilty.
