Houston Police are on the scene at a student housing complex near the campus of Texas Southern University following reports of a shooting, according to ABC's Texas affiliated ABC 13, just hours after a similar shooting claimed the life of one student at Northern Arizona University
The Texas Southern University shooting happened at the Courtyard Apartments on Blodgett Street near Canfield around 11:30 a.m., according to Click2Houston.
Details about the shooting are conflicting thus far, with some sites reporting one person shot, while others are reporting two were shot. Regardless of numbers, the status of those involved are still unknown.
TSU spokeswoman Eva Pickens issued a statement, revealing that the campus is on lockdown until further notice:
"Texas Southern University has announced the campus is on lockdown following a shooting incident just moments ago. Early reports indicate two shot - conditions not known right now. The assailant is still at large. All staff are asked to remain in offices - students to remain in classrooms until further notice."
