Paul Reubens: 'Gotham' Season Two To Feature Actor As Penguin's Father (TWEET)

Paul Reubens, the actor / comedian best known for his portrayal of Pee-wee Herman, will play The Penguin a.k.a. Oswald Cobblepot's (Robin Lord Taylor) father in season two of "Gotham," announced Taylor during a panel discussion of the series at New York Comic Con on Sunday.

"So we're all familiar with Oswald's mother, the fabulous, fabulous Carol Kane," Taylor said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "We don't know a lot about his father... We just found out that I do have a father. And he will be showing up very soon, and he will be played by none other than Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-wee Herman! He's playing my dad! What! The! Hell!" he added excitedly.

This isn't the first time Reubens will portray the Batman villain's father. Reubens previously played the character of Tucker Cobblepot in Tim Burton's 1992 film "Batman Returns."

The news comes as the show shifts its focus to the villains in the second season, dubbed "Rise of the Villains."

"All the villains are going to start interacting with each other, and not just the villains, but the heroes as well ... fun stuff is coming up." Taylor teased,

Monday's airing of the show will also feature new addition Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, as HNGN previously reported.

"He's a real wallflower," Chiklis said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Barnes comes in as a countermeasure to the villainy that is running amok to Gotham. He serves as a mentor to [Jim] and he's trying to pull him out of the muck, because he's sliding down that slippery slope of the ends justify the means."

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
