Rapper Scarface was arrested shortly after he proudly received the "I Am Hip Hop" achievement award on Friday night at the BET Hip-Hop Awards ceremony at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
And by shortly after, we mean it literally happened immediately back stage following his acceptance speech, according to TMZ.
The Fulton County jail records state that he was cuffed and taken into custody for failing to pay child support. He remained booked at Fulton Country jail until Sunday morning when he was finally released.
"There was a sheriff waiting to arrest him backstage," a source told Us Weekly. "Literally, he walked off the stage holding his awards and handcuffs were put on him."
The Houston-based singer, whose real name is Brad Jordan, is best known for his hit songs "Smile," "My Block," and "I Seen a Man Die," according to New York Daily News. He has not yet commented on the arrest, but apparently, a bond for $482,190 has been set.
