GTA 6 Rumors: Rockstar Games Already Has Plans for 'Grand Theft Auto 6' In Mind

Rockstar Games is obviously going to be spending a lot of time in the near future working to upkeep its latest release "GTA Online." As millions of users log on and battle each other one on one in the vast open world of Los Santos, the company will have a lot on it's hands, especially considering this one of the first of its kind multiplayer experiences. However, this does not mean that the company has no other plans for the future.

"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," Rockstar president Leslie Benzies told Develop. "We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas."

IGN points out that by the end of GTA 4's development cycle, Rockstar had started coneiving what would eventually become GTA 5. However, any actual development for the game wouldn't begin for another two years after the game's release.

"It comes from the idea first. Where is it going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the missions in."

Rockstar has always had ideas for the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise that it wasn't able to use for various reasons. For example, the idea of a three character campaign mode was originally intended for "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas." However, the idea had to be scrapped because the technology was such that, it was logistically impossible to make the game marketable with all of that memory.

"It didn't work from a tech point of view because the three characters need three times as much memory, three types of animation, and so on," she said.

In fact, as of now "Grand Theft Auto 5" is pushing the limits requiring an install of 8GB before players can use all the features. While there is no telling exactly what GTA 6 will look like, Rockstar Games has no shortage of new and exciting ideas.
