Florida Man: Child Pornography Found On Computer Leads To 885-Year Sentence

A Florida man was sentenced to 885 years in prison after authorities found a "massive amount of child pornography" on his hard disk drive, Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office of Statewide Prosecution announced Monday.

Shawn Ryan Thomas, 31, was arrested by Florida law enforcement after an informant tipped them off about Thomas' plot to kidnap a child and kill the parents, reported People. After the deed was done, he planned to sexually batter the child while filming the acts to produce child pornography.

While searching his home, police found 60 images of child porn on a computer, which Thomas' lawyer tried to convince the court belonged to his roommate. However, the jury ultimately ruled the computer was his.

Following the decision, Thomas was found guilty on 59 counts of possession of child pornography and was sentenced 15 years for each count, reported NBC Miami. In addition, he faces 15 years of sex offender probation.

Thomas is also expected to stand trial on charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted child rape and attempted murder, stemming from a June incident in which Thomas lured a 9-year-old girl and her parents to a vacant home with plans to murder the adults, then rape and kill the child, reported NBC's Orlando affiliate WESH. Thomas pleaded not guilty to these charges.
