Raven-Symoné posted a statement to her official Facebook account to clarify the discriminatory statements she made on "The View" last week, Us Weekly reported. The former Disney star took to social media to open up about her own past experiences with discrimination.
"My comments about discrimination have spun out of control," Symoné wrote in her Facebook post. "I'd like to begin by saying that I was not attacking a specific race, but repeating a name that was said in a viral video which has received over 2 million likes."
"I have been denied many jobs because of my skin color, body size, and age," the former "That's So Raven" star continued. "Each time I was rejected, my self esteem was negatively effected, so I empathize with those who feel victimized by what I said. We would hope that when it comes to hiring, our names, physical appearance, sexual orientation, and age would never outweigh our qualifications, but often times, they do, thats the truth and it sucks. But I should not be part of the problem, I should be part of the solution."
The "View" co-host came under fire recently after a Thursday episode aired where Symoné said that she would not hire someone if they had a "ghetto name," as previously reported by HNGN.
Her father, Christopher B. Pearman, also took to Facebook to announce that he didn't agree with his daughter's controversial views, as previously reported by HNGN.
