In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on "The Whoolywood Shuffle" radio show on Monday, rapper, novelist and actor T.I. (Tip) made a string of sexist comments on why a woman can't serve as president of the United States and then subsequently apologized for his remarks.
"Not to be sexist, I can't vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman," he said, according to Variety. "Just because every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president, it's kind of like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally - they make very permanent, cemented decisions - and then later, it's kind of like it didn't happen or they didn't mean for it to happen."
"And I sure would hate to set off a nuke. You ain't gonna be able to negotiate the right kind of foreign policy. The world ain't ready yet," he added.
T.I. not only thinks that a woman can't be head-of-state, he thinks a mythical monster has a better shot at the position.
"I think you might be able to get the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could (a woman)," T.I. said. "It's not right, but I'm just saying I don't think."
The rapper's comments drew a lot of criticism, with many pointing out that T.I. has had a hard time controlling his own emotions. He has served two jail sentences and has been arrested several times on charges including drugs, assault and weapons. However, he is eligible to vote in his home state of Georgia after serving his time, according to The Guardian.
T.I apologized for his comments on Twitter later, saying: "My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended."
