It looks like Kanye West doesn't hate all paparazzi! While in France for Paris Fashion Week, the rapper took a moment to praise the French paparazzi for being respectful of him and his privacy while in their country, shaking their hand and even introducing himself to a woman who had no idea who he was, GossipCop reports.
When he got out of his car on a busy side street, he told the photographers not to ask him any questions, and when they remained silent, the star broke out into a speech about how he liked the respect the French had for him, unlike the harassment he often receives from paparazzi while out in L.A.
"I like how you guys got total respect for yourself and respect for the people you're photographing," he said. "And you also take time off at like 8 o'clock, you're not around people's houses and stuff like that, so I just really appreciate and respect that. I understand you have to make a living."
For someone that's gotten into multiple run-ins with the law over breaking camera equipment and scuffling with aggressive photographers over the years, West's gentle approach to the French may come as a surprise to some who are used to seeing him flip out at over-eager photographers. He even reached out to shake one of the photographer's hands, and it's easy to see where his love of France comes from, in part.
But perhaps the best part of the video is when towards the end, a woman approaches West as the paparazzi tell him she doesn't know who he is. West's reaction is pretty funny, as the rapper is used to being instantly recognized all over the U.S., though he does introduce himself as "Kanye" with a smile and shakes her hand before darting inside a building.
Last month, West cursed out paparazzi who appeared on his driveway at 4 a.m. to photograph him and ask him questions about his fued with Jimmy Kimmel, telling them to "Shut the f***k up!" and calling them a "bloodsucking mosquito" and a "bully." The star was recently charged with allegedly attacking a photographer at LAX this summer, though there is no word yet on whether or not he will be convicted.
